Rebuild

Hey hey,
Any one have any expierence with sidedrafts on an e21?
I have a 78 e21 with 2 liter and a 83 e21 with the 1.8.
Would it be ideal to go with 2.0 or the 1.8 or mismatch or... Please tell me the best combination. or even a different motor/block/head...??
I'd like to build a torquey e21, 180hp at wheels, carbs.
So far I've been working on the suspesion.

Re: Rebuild

Put a 325e motor in it. Then you get 30mpg and 140hp.

But if you have dual 45's, go with the 2 liter head. You need all the displacement you can find for those bad boys. Have you seen the single sidedraft manifold from Lynx? I think it's on the Top End Performance site. Just google it. I want one for my '02.

mmm

What about Italian Dual Dellortos 40 DHLAs. Ive been hearing good things about them:
-Stay in sync better
-Designed from the webers but fixed weak points
-Last longer
-etc.

Re: Rebuild

I don't think it'd be too hard to beat Webers. I like the Makuni idea myself. Crap, that reminds me. I was supposed to buy this motor off this guy... Jeez he must be tired of waiting for me!

Did you check out the single sidedraft manifold? I really want one. I like the idea that you're getting more power due to flow mapping instead of two huge carburators. It's not as much hp but it's a neater idea. Power doesn't come from these four cylinders anyway. I just want mine to run/sound good and be able to throttle steer on dry pavement. All you need for that is about 100 good horsies to the wheels in a 2002. That means about 115hp to the flywheel I guess.
