Re: super?turbo?
Well which model does your friend have? GT or GTS?
TRD makes a 1.8 liter supercharger for the 1zz engine. Check out : http://www.trdusa.com Sorry I'm not giving you a prize. Price is around 2k. |

Re: super?turbo?
I can't tell you what is better, it's not going to be my car. Turbo or supercharger are going to feel a little different.
I believe that TRD supercharger is only for the GT model which has a little lower compression. That also makes it a little more turbo friendly also compared to the GTS which is VVTi-L with higher c/r. Have you or your friend priced either model? There is about a 4-5k difference between the two I believe. Check out: http://www.toyota.com there is plenty of info on there to make your own decision. Peace. CHris |

Re: super?turbo?
There are noticeable differences between both models. Just go research the subject a little bit with the links I gave you. They have similar torque figures, but the HP is more on the GTS. The GT is a 5 spd., the GTS a 6 spd. (manuals). Both offer Auto.
I don't know what you want, I can't tell you what to get! ![]() Look at the "build your own" option on the Toyota site. http://www.toyota.com Or check out the specs between the two. Compare them side by side. later, chris |

Re: super?turbo?
well, I'm sure he'll like it.
Not real easy to add a turbo or super charger to the GTS though. But, it's a great car. Can't remember when the lowered the redline, but I think it may have been 01-02... best of luck, chris |

are all the companies lowering the redline to make it street drivable or something? because the s2000 was lowered from 9k to 8k rpms on the 2004 model

Re: super?turbo?
The redline was lowered on the Celica, because too many people were over-revving and missing gears. That is what I heard from my local Master Mech. Maybe there is more beind it.
The S2000 changed for other reasons. I believe the engine has been slightly changed; but I'm not sure. Possibly different displacemnet? I can't recall, I'm not into Honda as much. Best Regards, CHris |

yeah... i think they might have changed the displacement... also i know some people with s2000's that say it is exhausting to drive it arround in traffic because of the high rev point... it is fun when ur on the free way or on the track but not stop n' go driving... so i think that might be another reason... more torque ant lower rpm?

Re: super?turbo?
makes sense to me. Lowering the redline, or lowering where the engine makes peak HP, will also move the torque to the left (hopefully
)In other words, HP and Torque will always "cross" at 5252 RPM becuase of HP = Torque x 5252 RPM (I believe that is correct, I'm super tired right now) If you lower where the engine makes peak power, ie : 100HP @ 6000RPM to 100HP 5000RPM, you should be making a little more torque with the lower spec.. (sorry, I know this isn't the best example, but hopefully you see what I mean) Later, Chris |
