Engine Conversion 4door

Hello, i am considering doing an engine conversion in the next couple of months and am deciding what engine i should go with, as i dont want to spend a heap of money. I currently have a d15b4 in my 1990 4 door. The b4 is a dual carb engine. I was considering a b16a conversion, but the engine mount kit is $800 alone, then i have to wire it in, which i think all up including engine will cost around $4000, which is too much i think. So i was considering staying with the d series engines. Has anyone got any good ideas for me? I was thinking a d16a9, they are the dohc d series arent they? Either that or the d16a6, this is the vtec? The honda scene isnt that big in australia, it seems to be b16 or nothing. In Australain civics i have heard that the d series vtec was only for economy and made like 70kw. What does a d16a6 and a9 make if anyone knows? I was considering using my dual carbs on the new engine so i dont have to wire up a computer, are all inlent manifold patterns the same on d series heads? If not has how hard is it to wire in a mpfi computer? i can manage to install a cd player and 2 amps without much trouble. Any other ideas would be great!
Thanks guys.

the z6 is vtec. the a6 is the si 108hp.
i dunno know about the 4dr but the 4gen civic/crx hasport mounts can be had for about 350 on ebay. there are even cheaper one's than that.
the mpfi swap is not all that hard from what i hear. there are many websites with step by step instructions for the wiring.

You don't need to change your engine to make more power. Those carbs are VERY tweakable for massive power gains. Your stock aircleaner system is designed to detune your car to 105HP.

I have posted lots of info here:

http://www.d-series.org/viewforum.php?f=2

Look under the "CARBS" post. My nick there is "Dual Carb". Me and some other dualcarb owners have thrown together all our knowledge on those carbs for good power gains...

You will not be able to transplant your carbs from a d-series engine to a b-series engine, bolt and port patterns are not the same. Furthermore, carbs cannot compensate for the vtec stage changeover, unless you set your carbs to work for vtec stage only, which means a full on drag car... no street car... but not to worry, there are many "free" horsepower tricks with the dual carb setup...

Of course, if you put the carbs on a more powerful d-series like the d16a9, you will get even more out of those carbs. The dual carb setup is as good as, if not better, that FI in many respects...

Hmmm Very interesting, the d16a9 is the DOHC zc right? are you sure that the bolt pattern on the head is the same on a SOHC and a DOHC? Because i think the zc would be a good upgrade, and it would be easier if i didnt need to wire up a ecu. Since my carbs are ECU controlled through vaccum line, it would be almost possible to make an interceptor device to modify the carbs settings? D15bitch, what sort of mods have you done to yours/heard of for the carbs?

All the mods on the link I provided above. As for racing, that is exactly it, optimus, I race, I don't swing dicks... my proof is not in my 1/4 mile, but in the red faces of the guys I beat from robot to robot...

Just 'coz I'm not interested in 1/4 mile times, I'm gay...? Fuck you. Maybe I live in a country that does not have drag strips readily available. Maybe I do not want to drive 170 miles to get to one, just so I could post my 1/4 mile time results here for your pleasure...

And by the way, I do not race around with a dual carb'd D15, I drive around in a dual carb'd ZC. And only race when challenged...
