Changing Thermostat

I Have A 99 Silverado With 4.8 V8. What Would Be The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Changing The Stock Thermostat To A Higher Tempreature One? Thanks

I really dont think there would be any great advantages. It would make you engine run hotter and probably cause you problems if anything. The engine is designed to run @ a predetermined temp. if you change this it may increase emissions, cause your engine and transmissiom oils to break down prematurely, etc...
