99 grand am cd player problem

I have a 99 Pontiac Grand AM with the factory CD player. It has been acting up for awhile, the screen(time, track #, etc.) sometimes jumbles up and other times doesn't even show up. The other day it would not play any CD's at all, showing the error 20. I tried to clean it with a disc cleaner but that didn't work. Now all it does is try to read the Cd's and then eject them back out. What does the error mean and should I even try to get it fixed? Thanks!
Shannon
