4.3 Performance Info?
I'm not finding much information on hot rodding the 4.3 90 degree V6. I'd like to build a mild stroker with a big bore race block so that I'd end up with a 300 cu in Chevy V6. I'm particularly concerned with making this work with factory based electronic fuel injection. Any comments or tips on where I can find more info? Thanks
Matt

The 4.3 is a 5.7 with the front two cyl. cut off. I have pulled bolth the 4.3 and 5.7 apart side by side. and other then crank and cam the parts will swap out
I am working on a 4.3 myself, to keep the cost down I am ordering my parts for the 5.7. It's cheaper plus I am getting 2 cyl. worth of spare parts up front for less money. For the stock FI I wish I could help. I am going with the FI from the syclone turbo 4.3 .

I'm thinking of building my 4.3 on the same lines as a 400 cu in small block. 4.125 bore and 3.75 stroke to get 301 cu in. I'm building it for a 1989 Toyota 4runner. Because I want to use a Toyota R150 transmission, that drivetrain can't handle more than roughly 300 ft lbs of torque and also there is no room for a V8 without making mods that I think are not reasonable. The 4.3 swap is commonplace in Toyota trucks so all the bugs are worked out and parts are readily available.
Your avatar looks like it's a picture of a Datsun "Z". Is that what you are building your V6 for?

Yah, thats my baby. 73 240Z RUST FREE. At this point I have around two years worth of work in it. She is at the point of a perfect shell now. I had plans from the start of going V-8 GM. Then I started thinking about how everyone going with an aftermarket motor is doing the V-8. So then I started doing some looking. First thing I came up with was the 1st gen SHO motor. But with parts costing so much I tossed that. Then I found a ford t-bird SC with the supercharged V-6. Thought I had a winner there. After looking into getting even stock parts for that set-up I passed it by.
Now I have found the ticket and have started buying the parts. I am going with the 4.3 block Syclone intake, fuel injection, and heads. But not going with the single turbo. I am going with twin turbo So far I have the block, heads ,intake, and fuel injection with ECU. But with going back to school it's on hold for the winter. Funny how not having the extra money will do that Plus putting it on hold is giving me more time for the homework end of things. Getting the internal plans and parts list (compression vs. boost) for getting a good streetable & lasting set-up. It's not easy ![]() This is what I had in it
