Angry car just will not start

I have a 91 cav with a 3.1L in it. Parked the thing for a month and when I went to try to start it nothing. Checked the batt. Its good. Checked the fuse all ok. There is no power to the dash, the ignition lights will not go on. The only power I have is to the lights and the horn.
This is what I have done so far.
checked fuse, fuseable links, batt, starter, fuse box has no power.
If anyone knows where to look next???????
This is driveing me to drink

How did you check the battery? With an actual meter?

Does it turn over at all? Does it make any noises when you try to start it?

The battery may be strong enough to light the lights but not strong enough to crank the starter. Try boosting the battery for at least 5 minutes and try starting the car.
All the best.

Re: car just will not start

tried all that. I have a batt. tester and a charger tried both and nothing. One of the only things I have ruled out is the batt.

Re: car just will not start

I think the prob. is in the elect. system because the dash lights that come on when you turn the key will not come on and the tail lights will not come on eather just the headlights and the horn

it could be in the Ignition switch in your steering column. Horn and lights will turn on even if the key is not in the lock cylinder. do you get dome light? or radio? probably not..... but make sure your getting voltage to the ignition switch, turn the key and see if the power is maing its way out. i believe your switch is mounted on the column right under the dash.

Talking THis worked to fix my passlock!!!!!!!

I was having problems with the passlock as many others have been having as well. I took the ignition cylinder out and took it apart. To remove the ignition cylinder you have to press in on a pin that is on the back of the ignition cylinder with the key in and turn it and pull and it will pull out. To take the cylinder apart you all you have to do is line up the end with the groove on the inside of the cylinder, the part the key is in, with the channel on the outside of the cylinder and depress the part with a paperclip and slide it apart. There are a few small pieces and springs so be careful!! Now you just have to clean the contacts and reassemble it. That little cleaning saved my at least $300. I hope that this helps some with their problem!!!!!!!!!!!!

You may even try just cleaning it with carb cleaner and turning it without taking it apart and then blowing it out with air. I had not thought about that but looking back I think it shouldwork as well. TO lubricate it use graphite powder and your hopefully up and running
