Question 93 Bravada Won't pass smog

Hi I have a 1993 Olds Bravada 4.3 litre 6 cylinder vortec motor (W) in vin# 151k miles I took it in to get it smogged here in california and it failed running rich at low idle I was told. So I went thru a smog repair facility I was sent to by the state BAR. They charged outrageous prices $175 just to diagnose the problem. They came up with it needed a map sensor and a new vacuum line. So they did it $300.00 more dollars. Then they called and said it was not smogging still. And that they wanted to replace the spark plugs and oxygen sensor for another $345.00.(Told me the plugs were oil fouled) Which they weren't. And they said if that did not fix it then it was the catalytic converter. Well, I could tell by then that they were just gonna rebuild the car not find the problem so I got my car the heck out of there. I replaced the oxygen sensor and the plugs along with the tp sensor and had a new catylitic converer installed. Back to the test only smog shop (IT FAILED AGAIN) The same thing running rich at low idle and fine at high idle. I cannot figure this one out! Can anyone shed some light on this problem? Thanks for reading my dramatic story here LOL. Thank you in advance for any help I can get, Greggory

Re: 93 Bravada Won't pass smog

How rich is it running at idle?

I would suspect a leaky pressure regulator which is part of the injector assembly on a Vortec...
