I'm looking for informed opinions.....I'm trying to decide between a Mercedes ('96 C220 or '97 C230) and a BMW ('97 or '98 318i). I've heard from dealers that the BMW 4-cylinder isn't much good. I've also heard that the only colors to get in a Mercedes are black, white, or grey or they won't hold their value? Any thoughts on those two questions? Any general opinions, good or bad, on the 4 cars mentioned above?? I appreciate any constructive input. Thanks!

97' C230, I really like that car and They should hold their value. Both makes however still are pricey up to about 7 years here. The 98' 318 is newer so it depends what your looking for, give us a bit more of what your looking for and then I can give you better advice. Also unfortunately Mercedes are only available in those colours, they look very good though.

I would personally take the BMW, but only because it can come with a standard transmission. If you want an auto, though, I'd take the Mercedes. They seem to have a lot more class, while the BMW seems a little more mainstream. That's not really constructive, but my opinion.

BTW, I've seen darkish red C-classes before.
