Does anyone know, what is the Turbo/ Engine RPM ratio when Turbo is in "boost"....? Average???

Re: Turbo specs...

You mean how long it takes for a turbo to spool up?

That depends on the turbocharger and the engine it's fitted to.

Exactly, that would depend on the engine and turbo combination. There are too many variables that can affect airflow that you could lengthen or shorten the time it takes for the turbo to spool. You could only get an average from a certain engine, exhaust, intake, turbo, and intercooler setup.

also don't forget that the turbo's are load dependent too...if you pull a trailer uphill you'll see boost even at low rpm since you are spewing quite a bit of exaust under heavy loads

Question Re: Re: Turbo specs...

O.K. Well I'll be more specific then. I am trying to fit a semi V-8 turbo to a Pontiac 455 (462) and I'm trying to find out how to set it up for the correct RPMs for the engine and turbo because it will be belt driven.....

so you intend to take a turbo from a diesel 18 wheeler and transform it into a centrifugal supercharger?

Re: Turbo specs...

ummmmm, no.
I would asume that unless you HAVE to use that setup for some strange reason, you should not.
turbo's are meant to be runn off exhaust, not a belt.
