i have a stock 90 crx si. i adjusted the valves back to factory setting(.008 intake - .010 exhaust) as per when i bought it was off. the valves are still making noise. i was wondering if anyone knew what could be causing this.

Re: valve lash
I can't hear it . . .possibly bent valve or it's the fuel injectors your hearing. How loose were they before adjusting? Did you adjust with the engine cool?

they were actually too tight when i bought it. i don't think the valves are bent because none of them are stuck open. yeah, i adjusted them the morning after just to be sure the engine was cool. my buddy said it might be an exhaust leak. but now i'm not sure. i tired to adjust them to what chiltons listed as the specs. .002" intake side and .003" exhaust side. the first thing i thought was that was waay to tight. but i set it that way and cranked it over and was a little less noisy. then i found out the right setting and set it that way. and it made waaaaay more noise than it used to.

alright i took it for drive just now and it sounds like only one or two valves that are tapping. and it's coming from the side that has a busted stud (head to exhaust manifold) and a missing nut. could this be the cause?

Re: valve lash
Exhaust leak & valve noise is different noises, I can't hear it so I say time for a stethoscope(spelling).
