2000 sentra stereo removal

what are the steps to remove the stock cd player stereo for my 2000 sentra. Help please. thank you, paul.

Pop up the lid on that compartment in the center of the dash
Pull the compartment back towards the rear of the car, it should unsnap and pop out
Unplug the hazard switch and put the compartment on the seat or something
Remove the lower dash pieces (the ones around the cig lighter by pulling them away from the dash, they all just snap on
There should be 6 screws that you can now get to, 2 are above the cd player, 2 are right below the AC controls, and 2 are below those. You need to remove the 2 above the cd player and the 2 at the bottom, the ones right below the AC controls don't need to be removed
The entire cd player assembly/din now slides out of the dash and you have to use a hex driver to take out the screws that hold the cd player itself to the din.

thanks i appreciate the reply, also i have the seven speaker system was wondering if the like circuit city or where ever sells an aftermarket wiring kit for that. Im planning on installing a panasonic cd/mp3 player because my stock cd deck has troubles playing burnt disks.

yeah you can get a wiring harness and mounting kit from BB or CC, or you can order one online. It's all pretty simple, the hardest part is shaving the mounting kit down so the headunit can actually fit through it, for some reason I don't think any of the ones made for our car are the right size.

I've been searching for a how-to {like the great one above which I used last weekend to swap out my HU. So thanks, sr20de4evr; I would have ruined the dash trying to get it apart.}...on the rear deck removal.

Any advice on trim parts to leave alone and which have to go. Also, best route for RCA's and amp leads?

Sorry, confusing post...

1) rear deck removal
2) amp lead routing {including through the firewall, etc.}
3) RCA's to HU routing

rear deck removal (if you have the RF package or a non se-r)

1. lay down the seats
2. take off the middle plastic part, should have 2 snaps in it
3. you should see 2 red snaps, there are also 2 more that are hidden behind the side plastic panels, remove all 4
4. take off both rear pillars, they just snap in but watch out for the rear defroster wire, it can get snagged when you pull the pillar cover off
5. remove the 2 child safety anchors in the rear deck, they're under covers and I believe they're 12 or 14mm bolts
6. pull the rear deck straight up, this will unsnap the 2 snaps that are holding it down
7. now pull the entire cardboard rear deck forward, sliding it along the seat belts
8. do whatever you need to do with the speakers and then reverse the steps to put it all back together

There are 2 ways to run the power through the firewall. The driver's side has an empty grommet that you can use but you have to jack up the car and take off the front tire and the plastic guard. After you go through the grommet it's pretty easy, there are some white plastic guides you can use that are right under the trim on the side of the car. Just pull out the kickpanels, trim, B-pillar covers, rear seat (there are 2 plastic loops on the front that you pull forward, then the seat pops up), and you're in business.
There is also an empty grommet on the passenger side of the firewall, for that you have to route the power wire behind the engine, go through the grommet, and then take off the glove box to get to it from the interior of the car. After that it just routes the same way but on the passenger side of the car instead of the driver's side.

The RCAs are the same story, just run them from behind the headunit to the side of the car (use the opposite side as the power cable), then go through the plastic guides under the trim, under the rear seat, and into the trunk.
