wheels, opinions/advice please!

Hey y'all... some of you may know I currently run on 17x7 Motegi wheels. These things are rather heavy and honestly I don't want white wheels all that much anymore. I have found a different wheel I may be interested in. The brand is 'Team Dynamics' (British) and they are the ones who made the race wheels I used to use on my SCCA car. I was very pleased with the quality of the previous set of wheels I had and am now thinking of buying a set of Team Dynamics wheels for my Civic to be street driven/autocrossed. The size I would get is 15x7 (looking for better performance now, not just looks) Anyways, the wheels are 15x7 with a 30mm offset and weigh 12 pounds each. The going rate I can get from some of my old Spec Miata friends is $99 per wheel. What do you guys think? I am including a picture of the wheels, see below. Anyone try using 30mm on their Civic? Note: This makes overall track width wider, wheels stick out slightly more. I am including a picture of the wheels, see below.

Those are some nice Wheels, I'm totally digging them. Team Dynamics is known for making some fairly stylish and light weight racing wheels. As for the offset, I know my 15x6.5 size Rota C8's have an offset of +38 to them. Lower number mean they sit further INTO the wheel well, or is it the opposite, I forget. Eitherway, the main concern is making sure they clear your wheel wells for one (meaning no rubbing when driving) and then making sure they clear your suspension setup. 240SX's for example are notorious for having offset issues when getting true full coilovers, and getting the proper offset wheel is key to the owners. It's not as much of a problem with Hondas as many might say, but I'd have to say it IS an issue. When I got my 205/50 15 ES100 tires mounted onto my C8 wheels, when looking under my car one day, I noticed that there's about 15-20 or so mm's of clearance between the tire top inside edge, and the springs around my Teins. I couldn't imagine how any wider of wheels (or tires wider than 205 rather) would work on my car setup. Of course on this subject, "milage can vary" with any car.

thanks for the response SilverY2K... I figured I could count on you to give some advice. I am not totally sure of the offset thing but I could have just about swore the 30mm would move the rim part of the wheel farther out toward the edge of the car than the 38mm. I am not totally sure though? I will have to find that out! I know the two are hardly comparable but when I had the 15x7 30mm offset wheels on the Spec Miata they didn't rub anywhere even though the car was set up very very low on GC coilovers and Koni yellows... I will have to check into this a bit more but thanks again for the reply!

Positive offset makes the track wider - distance between the center of 1 rim(or tire) to the other. I get rear spacing & offset confused all the time.
Offset is the distance between the mounting surface & center of rim.
Rear spacing is the distance between the mounting surface & inboard edge of rim. Also called offset by many . . .

You could always roll the fenders since suspension clearance won't be a problem.

Just today I was thinking about wheels, and I'm pretty set on getting some 15x6.5 Mugen MF10L Mirror face wheels. But then I was thinking what my ride might look like on some old skool SSR mesh, or Wantannabe RS8's. That drifter look wheel on a Civic might actually look kinda neat. I dunno...

Yeah, I like those TD Pro Race 2 also, and they are light thats a good thing
But you're getting them in black? Or one of the other colors available:
Bronze, White, Ice Silver?

black... I don't know why I kind of like the black look, right now I have the crappy steel wheels on my car for winter and they are black, it just kind of struck me as a sharp kind of played down look

I forgot to mention, I like those wheels. Some look good in black & others look like shit. If they weigh 12 lbs I could careless if there were gold cadilac emblems instead of the 5-spoke, well maybe not.

These are the wheels I think I'm set on getting now. Yeah they are what I currently have (though mine are silver) but they look so damn sweet with that polished lip on them!

Nice wheels. I give the thumbs up. And a good price too for the weight, $99 a wheel. (im guessing $USD)

As i have these wheels.

And paid (australian)$220 a rim with no rubber, weighing in at 14.3lbs. (& just to mention it, as my mechanic made me sure to get wheels made in japan. so, yes they are made in japan)

They are 15x6.5 with an offset of 40. So i don't know if that helps with your question of an offset of 30. Other thing is, car is only lowered about 1" - 1.5", so i can't really say much as to whether it rubs the inner guard.

Oh, they're on a '88 ed6 civic.
