Guessing, I would say maybe, catalytic convertor clogging up, or O2 sensor bad.

Re: rough running

My '89 Supreme 2.8 L had a bad 02 sensor and it ran better than after I fixed it. I don't think a bad 02 sensor would cause what's described. Any codes? Access to a scanner?

A Bad O2 sensor causes the engine to run rich. I would imagine since your engine was running rich for a long time, once it was working correctly, and leaned back to where it should be, it probably caused problems.

Solution? Seafoam
