question bout Mufflers

sup guys...now, i got my intake and its a mac, that was the only one i could afford...i had some people from a local stang krew tell me good things and bad things about mac but their were more good things so i just got that one. its not bad at all, nice sound. anyways, now my next thing is exhaust. im really confused on what to get. should i get mufflers, or cat-back?i said this is my other post too, im not lookin to race or anything, just want a nice deep sound. thanx for the info!

cat-back just means its the pieces from your h-pipe(where the cats are) on back. meaning mufflers and tailpipes. you could just get the mufflers but then you would have to measure what would fit. plus the stock exhaust is 2.25", where as the most aftermarket cat-backs are 2.5", which gives you room to add more power. also sounds better with bigger pipes. IMO, i would definitely spring for the whole cat-back. go with Flowmaster AT's(like $230 for the cat-back from summit), you wont be dissapointed!

Re: question bout Mufflers

Not looking to race but just add sound. Sorry guys I would weld in some mufflers. Way cheaper. I really think these mandrel bends and pipe sizing is overated on stock engines

Not so, you can gain anywhere from 10-25 hp by going with a complete exhaust system, depending on variables. Mandrel bent pipes will flow a lot smoother then the stock kinked and snaked pipes, even on a stock motored car. Now I'm not sure what year car you have, but if you want a combination of sound and performance then get headers, o/r h-pipe, and a nice cat back. Dynomax or Magnaflow are my personal favs.

Okay headers, mid-pipe, catback for lets say conservatively $1000 plus install on a stock engine for big gains. I'll take timing adjuster, gears, Pro 5.0, nitto's for around the same ballpark. Better bang for the buck. But only my I'm 40ish and my days of 454 vettes, Boss Mustangs etc where I believe exhaust really opened them up is gone

Re: question bout Mufflers

is ur stock exhuast is restrictive the ur car will open up a bit. my stock exhaust piping on my WRX is 2.25" i upgraded it to 3" and notice a huge improvment.

Re: question bout Mufflers

ok, the car is a joke. I think it's some sort of sheclipse with about a 4,000 boky kit.
I thought it was too funny not to share.
