Is clear coat on decals ok?

Is that true that Tamiya clear will eat up decals if you apply it on top of them? I heard that you need to wait for like a month before you can do that.

Spray very thin layers and you'll be fine. I used Tamiya clear on my Subaru WRC and I haven't seen any adverse affects.

What about other types of clear? Which will eat at decals?

Re: Is clear coat on decals ok?

try it out on a spare decal and see, but i wouldn't put it on anyway, coz if u do, you can't really take off the decals, or cant rearange them if you want to...

Don't worry? it can only be dangerous if you put a heavy coat of acrylic clear tinned with vodka or spirit.

Re: Is clear coat on decals ok?

try a base coat of future acrylic floor wax as a clear then seal it with the same . Arylic will go over lacquer paint without problem but not the other way around
