S2000??

What's all the fuss aboout the S2000?Im askin not to play on it, i really wana kno. My interest in it never went more than a really hyper inquisition of an owner if i could get a ride in one last year(and he had to be a jerk and say no lol). Aside from that, never really sparked any interest in me. What's so big about it...and how does it compare to say...the Mazda RX-8? don't tell me its jus cuz its a Honda its better...i wanna kno facts!

the s2000 produces the most power out of any n/a engine... it is a 2.0L and makes 240hp... most cars need a turbo for that... i havent heard much about the rx8 but i know that the rx7 has reliabuility problems... though i dont know how good the new renesis is quality wise... i also believe that the rx8 is heavier (dont quote me on that) its rwd, though most cars are and is a two seater and has good stearing... the gear box is great and it has one of those cool race car starters lol

I just bought one and....

at 5700 rpm's this car really cooks and releases a growl and throws you back in your seat, bad ass 4 banger. VTEC is based on a turbo premise without the turbo.

Re: S2000??

240 HP naturally aspirated 4 cylinder screaming at 9000 RPM is not something you will forget. Its like a bike on 4 wheels. Transmission is amazing, handling is real, very driver oriented, meant to be driven hard. I would highly reccomend getting a ride in one, hell if i was close to you i would offer you a ride, i love giving people a little scare!

The RX8 is a bit heavier, and not a true sports car in my eyes for a few reasons.....
1) Back Seats
2) 4 Doors
3) Traction Control
4) Miscellaneous Luxury Ammenities (heated seats etc...)

These 4 points should not be on any real sports car...period. I have driven an RX8, and i can say it definitely has a great power band, very linear torque curve, but i can get over that VTEC kick in the S2000. RX8 was also misquoted on mazdas part in terms of horsepower. They calimed 247 at the rear wheels, when in actuallity it was about 235....many owners were not happy about that little mistake, and mazda offered some very nice compensation for that. Still a very nice car, but should not be in the same class as the S for the reasons above, plus a few others, history being one!

and just how often are you going to hit 9000 rpm? a 9000 rpm redline is jus not practical. id still take the s2000 though cause i think its looks are totally clean.

Re: S2000??

Stop it you guys......you are making me feel insignificant. My fav car is the 04 S2000, by far. I just can't get over the fact that a 4 banger pumps more HP than my V6 accord.... after I graduate from college and can hold down a job.....I am getting a S2K and emptying my pockets into that great little Vtec!

Re: S2000??

How often are you gonna get 9k rpm?

As often as you can stand

It has a high enough powerband (around 7500, I think)

The s2000 is a beautiful piece of monster work.

Well Guys thanks for the info. Im quite impressed...but i think i'll stick with the RX-8 for now mply because I can take my 2.5 kids to school(futuristically speaking ) and cream the punk in the lowrider Civic past the lights at the same time ...mabye one day i'll have enough dough for both !

Re: S2000??

We went to test drive an RX8 and they said no. You have to buy to test drive so they can keep miles down so I couldn't compare. The S2000 has a 50/50 weight ratio & w/good tires, especially back ones will just hug the road at hi rates of speed in tight curves. There's lots of metal in it for keeping it sturdy and tight. I really love mine, but our kids are grown & I'm glad to say, "sorry, I can't take you and your friends all over after I get off work cuz my car only seats 2. When the V-tech kicks in it can just pin your head against the head rest....I wouldn't drive like that if I had small children in the car. It might be safe, but it wouldn't be right.....I hope you find someone who's not such an idiot to give you a ride. I'm always glad to give someone a ride in mine.

Well from what 've heard( and seen) about the RX, its also got a 50/50 weight ratio (or mabye im confusing it with the new Aussie...i forget the name)...but it does hug the road a high speeds, and seems to have a nack for them corners...little understeer goin in, and not much oversteer commin out. From watching TOP GEAR, it looked like alot of fun to drive, and it handled well! unfourtunalty im talking from someone else's experience, those Jerks still are to screwed and above regular society to offer rides! Although i don't blame one guy for saying no...he had his girlfriend with him and wasn't about to let some stranger get a joy ride while his girl stands around waitin...(bitch)...about the kids thing though, i agree with you there, don't wanna give my kids nightmares about a very nice piece of metal...but after dropping them to school early, i'd still be late for work...and nothing like a quick coupe to get you through them back roads in record time, and be there before the boss walks in ...of course this is all still futuristically speaking!...but agian...i'll wait till im wealthy enough to afford both...then decide which is better ...till then, my pops Hyundai Santa FE LX does the Job nicely enough!
