Question 1994 Ciera Cutlass problems

Well i i'm working on a cutlass ciera with a 3100 SFI v6 year is 1994. Its got a problem or problems. Very bad power loss and until its been warming up for 10 minutes or so the rpm just pluments its tries to idle very very low and its cant so it dies alot i cant figure out whats wrong with it . And when your on the road you gotta have the pedal down to the floor to actaully accelerate at a decent speed (i'm not a speed demon by the way ) A mechanic type friend said something about cylinder #2 is screwed up but i can get around to check it right now i was just wondering if anybody knew anything that could point me in the right direction. thanks
