Question Soft tops...

Hello all,

Just a couple quick questions.

First, do the MGB and the Midget use the same top? I found a site that has soft tops for a pretty reasonable price, but when I click the link to purchase one, it takes me to MGB tops. They also offer the top with or without a zipper, what zipper are they talking about?

Second, does anybody know whare I can get lug nuts? I had no idea it would be so hard to find these.

Thanks,
Rick

Re: Soft tops...

No They dont use the same top, the MGB cabin is larger. The design will be very simlar though so I guess they just use one pic to show what they look like. Just make sure you order the correct one

The zipper Im not sure about but this is what Id guess. Modern convertible tops like the MGF and Mazda MX5 (Miata) have a zip out rear window so you can fold the top without creasing the window and also so you can keep the top up for shade but have greater airflow. My guess is the zipper top has one of these instead of a fixed window

Re: Soft tops...

Thats correct, the two tops are different. The MGB is larger.
The zipper is the rear window and the top should not be folded with it unzipped. See the manual on how to fold it. I have a MGB and the zip out window is for the '77 on but fits the early models. I have a '72 and use the zipper top.
I unzip the window with the top up in the summer as it is cooler that way here in Florida idleing around in city traffic.
I forget the bolt size in my "B" but take one with you down to an Autozone or other parts store and the display in some of them have bolts that you can try it on with the size written there. I bought mine that way. Also I think Walmart might have the same thing. The "B" is a standard thread. I'm not sure about the Midget.
