Re: Water injection
Poor mans intercooler, cools intake themp so you can run more boost. Spray it in the intercooler pipe.
http://www.noswizard.com/water.php thats kinda a good idea of what it is |

Re: Water injection
But, when I get it back together, it will have the basic stuff, 16g, exhaust, still debating on what I want to do for intake, gm mas or go cheap and do something else, and probably 14lbs of boost.

If you are looking for a efficient way to cool intake air save the money and go buy a front mount. that is essential on any turbo larger than a 14b. there are ways of going around it but they are a pain in the ass. for the set up on which you are currently runnin there is no need for a alcohol/water intake injection system. A front mount will cool your intake air more effieciently than the injection system and it will do it all the time. you dont want to buy that much alcohol or pack that much water to be able to get the same result from a injection system. most of the time whenever people run that set up it is for track use only. you never mentioned this, but you did say it was a poor mans intercooler, so this led me to believe you werent planning on upgrading your intercooler. bad idea for the already stated reasons. hope that helps you out.

Re: Water injection
Yeah front mount is deffently the way to go. I just thought it might be interesting to give it a try? I was defently eventually going to get a fmic, but for the time being I thought why not try it? Its pretty cheap, looks like you can get a system out there for like 250 bucks.

Re: Water injection
like i said the problem with injection is it only cools the air when you have it on. you would have to build a large storage tank for your water. water is jsut under 8 lbs a gallon. i am not sure how much you would need for a given amount of time. but if it was going to be the main source to cool your intake air you would need a fairly large tank. that is if you are going to drive the car daily. but i give it a try if you like.

Water and/or methanol/alcohol injection hs been tried and proven in every type of motorsport, and many many DSMers use it. There is a whole yahoo group dedicated to water injection. I can get the link t home so you can join up. See the vfaqs, some good sites on how to build your own kit. Shouldnt cost much more than 100 bucks for a good setup.
A big ass FMIC is still the best option, but its 10 times the price For some poeple WI may be worth it, for others it may be best to just wait and put that cash towards the FMIC. ITs all up to you. I personally am considering propane injection in my quest for 500 whp on pump gas.

Re: Water injection
Also, I noticed on your site you have the pvc intake, how does that work for you?
- BTW, I was a idiot and bought a dejon tool intake without the bov tube, if any one is interested in buying it let me know, I was thinking about unloading it for like 30 bucks or something? |
