l have a 2000 audi a4 1.8t.....it's making a humming noise from the passenger side rear wheel......as l go faster the noise becomes louder....also when l go over bumps....it makes a "dut" type noise....could it be my bearing or strut or something please help and how much will it cost to repair......thanks

It sounds like you’re on the right track.
Its kind hard with out seeing / hearing and anyone who responds would just be taking a guess as I am. The best why to check is jack up the wheel you think is causing the problem spin and listen, I should be smooth and spin freely also you can grab the wheel at the top and bottom (make sure the car is on a jackstand along with the jack in place ...safety first ) and move it in and out there should be no play ....if so its the bearing . As far as the strut... push down on the body firmly and let it come right back up…if its good it will come right back up and not bounce a couple times Hope this helps Good luck Dan |
