Supra 1jz-gte vs s15 silvia kit vs ej20

Hi hows everything going with the room? at the moment i am a newcomer but i am curious to know for any reason if i decide to get another car it would either be a mk3 toyota supra, a 95 240sx w/ or a subaru legacy w/ an ej20 engine swap (wrx engine), in my eyes this would be the quicker car to get out of the choice of cars i would like to select from cause the wrx looks like a souped up model of a go-cart-car but with the engine swap w/ the legacy it looks to me like a perfect version of a 4 door race car (besides the is300), i understand that there are also some bigger blocks for the ej20 engine but would that sort of engine be worth it being worked on if i wanted to bring it to the track?? THE MAIN SUBJECT: with the mk3 supra i am interested in getting that car or the 240sx the reason why i dont like the 240sx is that the body is not as strong as the supra but what i am curious to know is how do the j spec engines for the cars handle if i get an engine swap for one of them(s15 silvia vs 1zj-gte) i understand that the s15 silvia can handle 800hp but i dont know where to find information about the mk3 jspec supra engine online

your advice would be greatly appreciated
thanks StreetSailor

Hmmm, where to start, so what exactly are you looking to do with the car, what are your expectations? If your looking to seriously race either car doing a swap outside of what actually came in the cars stock is not going to be helpfull, it'll throw you into a modified class (don't know the exact one, but it's hard especially if your new). So unless your just into Auto-X or you like being last then you might want to rethink that. The MK3 is heavy, actually heavy is a understatement since it's a 3600lb GT cruiser. It does handle very nice for it's size/weight though and makes it a dream to drive on the highway. The 240 will definetly handle much better, but due to the weak Ka24 it's gonna have a hard time keeping up outside of the turns. An SR20 would be a much better choice of an engine swap for the 240, much easier to swap also. I don't know were your getting 800hp out of a sr20 but if one is running that it's going to be a worthless dyno queen, not usable for the track at all IMO. The ma70/1jz from the JZA70 stock for stock will kill the 240/sr20 stock for stock, modded also i believe, I could be alittle biased since this is a Supra forum though . Also just so you know J-spec (JDM) does not limit the MK3's engine to a 1jz, theres 7m's and 1G's too.

Re: Supra 1jz-gte vs s15 silvia kit vs ej20

Yes thanks for the information, at the moment i am not going to do any racing but i am thinking about having a car with capabilities while at the same time i am trying to look at the science/options of the cars handling, while at the same time i favor the supra of how its designed and what its functions are, at the moment i am not thinking about racing anyone but the old supra seems to be a work of art as well as the newer ones, when it comes to the newer supras i once test drove a non turbo automatic supra even thought the car was a bit heavy, when it comes to backseats with any cars i am curious to know if you put front racing seats inside the cars would they make a little more leg room for people, at one time i went to the toyota dealership i asked them if they know anything about the next model supra but i heard that they have been a little quiet about it (toyota), they only told me that more than likely the car will be at the next car show, i like the fact that toyota is making their money to make more room for creativity but the designs of their cars imo have been looking funky except for the 2004 solara and the is300 (i like the future is300 2 door design better), i understand that the next supra may be in the lexus name but i just hope the car is in the competition w/ the 350z and the rx8 instead of the pricey acura nsx, the reason why i like the mk3 supra is because its not too much money to repair/upgrade/own and is a great car for anybody to start with to understand the responsibility of owning a sports car as well as the insurance price of the vehicle, heck i might keep the car no matter what other sports cars of other kinds i may get, (if i get those kinds of blessings that is), at the moment i am also trying to study the 300zx 2+2 i understand that its possible to put in a skyline engine but it seems to be more fashion than function maybe just get a tt engine for a lot cheaper, yeah i can be a calculating person but for anybody with any forum groups try using the word program of your computer make the window smaller, type your response, highlight the sentences, take them out and paste them onto the internet, then you will make your work of art easier

Thanks again

Wow i had to read that twice to get it all, please don't turn this into another "there making a MKV Supra because i talked to a nobody at a Toyota dealership" thread The backseats are big for a sports car with ass-trays, but there really not comfortable for anyone older than a teenager. Aftermarket seats won't save any leg room for the guy in back. I don't know if the MK3 is the best car for a beginner, it can definetly get you into trouble if you get to heavy on the throttle, but thats about the same as most sports cars. Yes a RB26, 25, 20, whatever skyline engine will fit into a 300, but unless you just have the money to throw away it's a waste. The VG30DeTT will make more power than you'll ever need. Theres really nothing to calculate, all the same era sports cars are roughly built the same althought some are alittle better than others in areas, but with the right suspension mods you can make one handle better than the other so it all comes down to which "style" you like the best, unless you just want to keep it stock or something.
