Question maybe buying 97 blazer- need advice

I am looking into a 97 blazer, 4 d, all wheel drive, leather, power drivers seat, power sunroof, drivers airbag, LT trim, w/ towing package. The car has 78000 miles on it. 2nd owner. 6,900$ Is this a good deal? How do these cars hold up as miles add on?

Doesn't sound like a bad deal. They are fairly easy to work on, and parts aren't hard to find. With routine maitanence, I've seen S-10s go up to 200,000 miles with no serious problems. Should be a good deal.

Re: maybe buying 97 blazer- need advice

It sounds good to me. That is pretty low miles for a 97. I just bought a 99 with 60000 kilometers on it for $15000 CDN

I've been loooking for a 95-98 Blazer. A 97 with that low of milleage is a good deal at $6900. As long as there is no major problems with it.
Have it checked by a good mechanic. There are several places on the net to check for book prices. I find very few 95 to 98's under 90K for mileage.

Sounds like a good price but do have the following checked...

The entire engine cooling system may have problems due to Dex-Cool. Check the heater core, radiator cap, radiator, lines, overflow, the works!

The brakes on a 97 are almost always in need repair. I'm in nearly $2,000 on mine.

Make sure you take it to a dealer to have the windshield wiper circuit replaced. (Recalled.) My stopped working in a rain storm and I almost ran off the road. Was stranded for two hours. : (

Check the transmission for sure.

The factory sound system has also been a problem on mine. Two of the speakers on my have stopped working and a third is on the way... and by the way, I don't listen to loud music.

Mine has been a real money pit... just a warning.

Thanks Two53's I'm looking at a 95 with 86K on it for $5900 from a dealer. If I could sell the two vehicles I have I would buy private for alot less. But I'm considering trading in both of my vehilces in. (If one dont sell.) I have read about all you spoke off from others owners here. I keep thinking I want another SUV but I owned an older Exploer and BroncoII and both where money pits. For some unkown reason I'm back looking at SUV's again. I just never seem to learn a lesson! I should buy a small wagon. Nah! Got to have the SUV!
