Depends what kind but I doubt it, you may be able to get close to stock.
The reason is 99% of the springs are shorter than stock, and the shock rods are shorter too.

Are you sure this guy is for real? I don't think they can do that without a valid reason. What is illegal about lowering a car

i dont know if this law is ONLY enforced in cali, but it sure is enforced, cops are at their worst when dealing w/ tuned imports here, they will get you HARD for below legal limit and window tint....always window tint. you are correct about the 22" limit, although i find it hard to believe that you can't raise it up that high again, i had a civic that sat LOW on coilover sleeve and i was 21" to center on about a 3'what coilovers are you running? did the cop eyeball it or use something to square it? did he do it on level ground? all these factors can affect his measurement, and one inch is an easy margin of error to f#ck up. the reason for your headlight level is for other drivers to p/u your headlights while following, below 22" is too hard to see unless you increased your following distance. anyway, just understand your rights and make sure the cop is measuring your ride correctly and not just trying to screw you over because you are in a rice rocket, and tell me when the last time a cop pulled over a classic muscle car for being too low or too much tint was and that may explain your dilemma. G/L man

sorry for the double post but i meant to say that i sat at almost a 3" drop sometimes on my civic and i was at 21" to center of lamp, so if you raise it to stock or near you should be just fine, go to home depot, buy a measuring tape and torpedo level and do this,

on level ground, measure up to your headlamp center and use the level to level a straightedge across the center of the lamps so that you KNOW you have a true measurement, and then educate officer estrada on your newfound light on life

and give him one of these:finger:

This is the law for Oregon, I like it.

Minimum Clearance
No part of the passenger vehicle can have less clearance from the road than the lowest part of the rim on any wheel.

So basically, if you have 35 series tires, then you can be about an inch of the ground legally.

Thank God I dont live in the U.S.
In the U.K. the cops dont really bother about how low your car is providing it doesn't scrape the road and there is clearance to get over speed-humps etc.
As for the height of the headlamps. OMG they only bother about headlamp aim and direction and not height.
I like being in the U.K. with some of the rules you have to put up with in the U.S. for your cars.
