Its fixed. I end up putting a lot of grease at the shifter links and have to bent the cable holder in the ignition key switch. The plastic mechanism in the shifter is a weak design.

To get it out with out taking out the panel. Once the car is on park, push the shifter button and let your tumb slide down so the button snaps back. This should get you key unstuck.

Try a little powered graphite in the lock mechanism, it acts as a lubricant

stuck key me too

key stuck in ignition? the replies you got are all helpful and may get your key out temporarily but it finally will be stuck there forever unless: you replace the ignition in the steering wheel. Apparently this is a somewhat common problem with this particular car. I have also replaced two electric window regulators, but I still love my car.

replacing the ignition switch will also mean a seperate ignition key, unless you get it rekeyed... but you dont need to replace the ignition switch
