Cool Progress: 1987 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe

One of the best 80's sports cars. I'll admit it, while Chevy/GM were producing boat anchor's AKA the 180hp 305 and just getting the bug out of their 289 HP L98 Vette's, Ford was producing the 225HP roller 302, along with the introduction of the 220 HP Yamaha engine built Taurus SHO. But it seems like it was the end of the line for SVO Turbocharged 4cyl Mustangs. No so, introducing the 1987 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe.

For my version it will be dark blue w/ dark blue interior; same colors as my old LX Bird...I might use the kit supplied Centerline 2 piece aluminum wheels. These wheels were HUGE (as in popularity) in the 80's

Just one...for now..

That 1:1 car looks pretty good. I like the rims on there.
Nice job with the paint. Is that the Dupli-Color Royal blue again?
On the voting, I had to vote for the Buick. That car is just awesome, and I love GM.

I don't know what it is about mike eugene, but he sure pics the most out of the ordinary cars to build here! He's responsible for turbo impala police cars, 4x4 dually silverados, and of course, the cleanest 300zx I've seen to date.

And his name is Camarossboy and he builds fords.
I'm just kidding. Its always fun to build a ford.... to turn into a junkyard diorama, right where they should be. Rusting in a pile of rat crap.

I like all the weird cars he picks. He just has to take his time and make them astonishing now.

Re: Progress: 1987 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe

its monogram's 87 t-bird turbo coupe. I got it from modelexpress.net. Unfortunatly, the headlights dont fit at all. I tried my best to finish it well, but heres the outcome. Still more polishing to do. You can also see my next project in the back ground...

Looks good. Sucks that the headlights don't fit.

What color orange is that on the next car?

Re: Re: Progress: 1987 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe

Mike, I saw the car sitting on the 92' 2n'1 box that's why I thought it was the 92, and had to ask. Nice camaro!

But lets not forget the Grand National....

I will vouche for the SHO cuz I gots one very nice cars ....hee hee
1st and 2nd gen SHOs can look so nice even 3rd gens can look good too.

I like those T-birds a lot, even the ones after. The T T-bird is a hidden jewel and sleeper

Me personally I like American cars for their ease of parts and performance for the price ratio. Heck anyone want something fast and cheap buy a SHO or turbo T-bird

I recently visited a ford nut (no offense) and learned that Ford made some duel overhead cam v6 engines back in the 70s or was that 60s.

Hope to see your finished pics soon, CamaroSSboy
