1:12 scale R32 GTR

Finally I have me a real monster. This kit is a real beaut opening doors and hood, decent engine detail. and screws instead of glue I'm going to enjoy making this.

Will keep you updated in this thread.

an idea of the huge size difference between 1:24 and 1:12. you could drive the 1:24 scale through the doors of the 1:12

I was looking at one of these kits recently online and wondered what it was like...mainly because it was very expensive (over $100 if I remember rightly) It looks pretty nice. I'll be interested to see how it builds up.

Re: 1:12 scale R32 GTR

details for painting are pretty slim so I will ore than likely go off the tamyia colouring for the interior and the exterior will be in my favorite colour for a skyline . . . . SILVER

might just have to go with automotive paints on this one to get just the right shade of silver

Re: Re: 1:12 scale R32 GTR

I was going to suggest if your doing rattle can, buy dupli-color. Warning: If you've never used it, you'll be very satisfied. It sprays in a V formation like this
.....<<<<<paint flow
|..|
|..|...can

I find it works 15x's better than tamiya usually 2bux cheaper, and lasts longer. I believe that they have nissan's silver.

Re: 1:12 scale R32 GTR

OMG THAT IS HOT HOT HOT! Finally another one daring enough to build the 1/12! I wonder if Tamiya or anyone else would ever make a 1/12 R34 V-SpecII (including engine)... I would imagine that everyone would buy it!

Re: Re: 1:12 scale R32 GTR

Mike. $75.65 at my LHS they have 2. I'd buy one, but there's know way in hell I'm spending 75bux on 1 model. Now, if it had 3cans of spray, all the brush paints, primers, styrene, brushes, glues, maskings and such, I'd might consider it. Since that's about what I spend on 2 models all together.

Speaking of big 1:12 models, anyone have a Monogram 1/12 F40? I forgot I had one. Dug it up today, looked at the contents. I have *no idea* why I even bought this thing; it barely resembles an F40!! The details are so bad (front and rear grills are FILLED IN -- molded details!). Wheels don't steer, tires look out of proportion, list goes on and on. To top it all off, the instructions don't even have paint instructions on them. Even the 1/24 Tamiya model is much more detailed and accurate than this monster! If one day I ever decide to build it... Bah, I'll just let it sit.

clem..

That Skyline is hot. I can't wait to see it finished.
If you don't mind me asking, where did you get it, and how much was it?

Re: 1:12 scale R32 GTR

got it from 1 of the model shops in New Zealand, works out at just under $300 NZD which I think would work out at about $180 US. not cheap but well worth it if you ask me
