LM most valuable?

Actually, what I mean is the most expensive. Obviously, the F1 LM is the most valuable car ever (or should be in my mind). But what do you guys think is the most expensive at auction?

Not an important question, just bored and curious

As far as McLarens are concerned, I think the only thing that could eclipse the sale price of an LM might be the price for GTR #01R - the GTR which won Le Mans in 1995. The F1 GT is a more rare variant of the F1, but I suspect that most people feel the way I do in that it's not nearly as appealing as a standard F1 road car. Anyway, I'd say your assumption is quite correct.

Hey, don't forget XP5, the car that broke the production car speed record. I should think that'd go for a pretty penny or two...

Re: LM most valuable?

I believe that the Ueno Clinic Le Mans first place car is actually in the hands of a Japanese collector, rather than McLaren themselves.

You mean just McLaren F1's, don't you..?

A Ferrari 250 GTO or a Bugatti Royale, otherwise...

At the end of the day, surely a car is only as valuable as the price someone is prepared to pay for it?

Re: LM most valuable?

On April 12, 1990, in Japan, someone bought one of the six Bugatti Type 41 Royales for $15 million - I'm not really that clever, I just have my Guiness World Records handy

Some people would say that the Mercedes 300slr could be the most
valuable car in the world. It has a lot of stuff going for it as far as
racing heritage among other things.

as far as the Mclaren F1 goes, I think the GT would command the
highest price because of it's rarety and status as the most radical
F1 varient. But you really never know untill one actually changes
hands for money, it's like CRXloon "At the end of the day, surely a
car is only as valuable as the price someone is prepared to pay for
it?"

Well the thing that makes the MBZ 300 SLR so valuable is that Mercedes Benz have never sold a single one. They still retain possession of all of them so if one did ever come up for sale it would probably be the only chance anyone might get to own one. I assume that makes the car priceless since none have ever been sold. It's tough to say if it could eclipse the price of the Bugatti Royale or Ferrari GTO as the classic and exotic markets were quite different back when they fetched those record prices.

As for the F1 GT being the most valuable, I'd guess and say that since most people don't find it appealing that it wouldn't fetch top dollar as far as McLarens are concerned. I believe tvrfreak mentioned that 56XPGT was for sale when he visited the factory at a price of roughly 1,000,000 Pounds. If it was really that desirable do you think it would still be sitting there?

Good point, but I don't think that I can believe that it would have
gone up for sale and never sold. I mean...think of it...What you
have is the rarest example of a Mclaren f1 ever, and the most radical.
I am sure that there is someone in the world that needs one of them
to complete his or her collection.
