Talking Progress: Revell ITR Metallic Blue

After mucking up the paint on my GT-1 EVO i decided to take a break from that car... which i just finished sanding and prineming again =\.

Just painted the body, starting interior and everything else soon.

you can actually read off of it! if you can read backwards =)

how does it look? i think it needs 1 more coat of paint. thanks for looking!

It doesn't look like you've used primer. Just make sure to do some panel lines. So what's the rest of the plans?

Yeah, didnt use primer i ran out on the gt1, i hope the panel lines could fix that. The plans are a fairly stock box buildup. Black/blue interior, a drop, and blue carbon fiber hood and wing centerpeice. The paint is Saphire metalic blue from Testors, its good i geuss but a little too runny.

How do these rims look? i got the idea from jdmhotrod's supra. the chrome kinda bleeds through but i think its a cool effect.

The paint is shiny, and doesn't look to have any orange peel, which is good. But primer is a must. It looks like you didn't lay down any mist coats first, either. Mist coats are espescially essential along panel lines, edges, or any other corcer. The mist coat will help prevent and cover the spots that a thick coat will pull away from. That's why you have the white edges along your panel lines and edges. It seems like your final coat technique is good, you just need to do the steps that come before the wet coat and you'll have a killer paint job.

Other than that, the color is great and the rims are cool. Good work.

next time you do your wheels strip the chrome off then primer then paint and then the chrome won't bleed though. looks good so far.

I like that effect, but I'm not feeling the whole blue rim thing. Maybe, if you'd have brushed some metallic white over them, it'd look better. White rims always look good with a bright blue car.

uuuumm. you may wanna rethink that. that weave is huge, it looks like a epoxy covered blanket. why don't you just go with regular CF?

by the way the paint job looks great all things considered. keep it up!

That might be all he has access to. I think it looks great. Another way to represent it is a deep gloss black.

Re: Re: Progress: Revell ITR Metallic Blue

yeah, forgot that one. I just honestly prefer the deep gloss black over the cf and mesh, and everything else, but that's just me anyway.
