Help...Car is shutting down after 2-3 kms.
This past w/end out of the blue the car died while turning in my driveway. Could not get it re-started, lots of spark. After pacing for a half hour, it restarted. Sounded normal. Pulled out of my driveway and made it to the end of the street, died again. Would not start. (10-15 attempts)
This went on for 3 days... replaced fuel filter, air filter, added injector cleaner. All the while the fuel pump was working (whirring noise). Had the scan done, turned up clean (even tho the "service soon" yellow light was on... has been for a couple of months, don't know how to reset it.) Today, miraculously it decided to run correctly. At least twice for a half hour or so (scared to take it anywhere). Now I'm in a predicament. I don't know how long this will last and I've had this to two GM mechanics and they haven't got a clue except for some guesses such as... - fuel pump faulty (600) - pressure sensor faulty - computer faulty etc. However, if any of this were true, then I would have expected the service engine light to come on and register a fault and/or something should have come out in the scan. Any ideas... It's a 2000 Sunfire, 2.2 Coupe with under 60000 kms. |

Fixed
It was the fuel pump. No shot but plugged @ inlet inside tank.
Hope this helps someone in the future. T. |

for all of you with the stalling problem and no check engine light its the transmission torque converter lock-up selanoid. I have had this problem for about two months car would run fine for a while then coming to a stop it would just die. I bought a new lock-up and it cost me (US)$11.99 and it took me one weekend to fix and it has been fine so if this helps!
