Unhappy modeling woes

hey everybody!

just joined the forums a few days ago from! so far im amazed by the quality of work done by all! good job to everybody!

im currently working on an EG civic HB, i already have the aftermarket advan RG's ,and an N1 canister. im currently deciding how to do my interior, i was thinking of going with a satin black and adding flocking for the carpet, this is where the problem begins, i can't seem to find flocking anywhere here in the city (winnipeg, manitoba) i've tried small craft stores but no luck. im sure there has to be places that sell this stuff. can somebody point me in the right direction? this is one thing that is holding back the project..the flocking.

any advice on how to tackle the model would be appreciated. i can't seem to find many aftermarket body upgrades (jdm looking lips and hatch wing) SAS doesn't carry anything as well.

cheers!

Flocking can be found at most hobby shops, even mine carries it. If you can't find any around you (which it seems you can't) scaledreams.com has some for sure, and I'd bet most of the places in the FAQ sell flocking as well.

As for body mods, if you're just looking for the JDM factor lip and spoiler (or even simple ones like Spoon or Mugen make) you could probably make them yourself with little trouble. The spoiler could be cut from styerene sheet (pasticard) and contoured. You could stack a few layers of sheet if you need more thickness or to help make the major contours. The lip could be made from a peice of cut sheet, and some putty. They aren't big or complex, so with a little care they could look great. The only thing would be making them symmetrical, but as you can see on some models here, it's possible....

Welcome! I am fairly new here as well but I live in Steinbach ( 45 mins. from winnipeg. Have you tried Gooche's hobbies and bicycles? I think the carry flocking but Im not sure. As for body kits , I think you will have to create your own out of styrene and putty. Good luck!
EDIT: oh man you beat me to it! oh well..

Re: modeling woes

thanks for the welcome guys!

mopars and skylines: hehe nice to see another manitoban on the board! i haven't been to steinbach in years hehe!

i am going to try the gooch tomorrow morning as i need to pick up some paint and other parts as well.

i did think of building the lip from scratch, but im going to have to sift through my pictures to find some reference ones hehe.

this is the most i have worked on for a model car. i have been building models since i was 4. mostly domestics hehe. my wrx sti VI needs to be redone, same with my type R. i hope to find a few more ideas on this board. i already picked up my photo etched seatbelts as well. im looking at building some simple exhaust hangers out of some wire to add to the realism. i hope to post pics soon.

thanks for the tips, keep them coming! im considering a satin black interior or a flat grey interior not sure yet, looking to make an SAFC as well.

is there a trick to make A-Pillar pods?

jay@af : i looked at your impreza project, the GC will remain a classic forever hehe here is my project GC or neverendingmoneypit
