Question Speed-limiter on '97-99 3.8L V6's???

I bought a 97 Camaro 2 years ago and just recently a Firebird, both with the 3.8L V6. I drive a lot, so I wanted the V6 for the cheaper insurance and mileage. I'll probably sell one, put headers/flowmaster on the other and save up for a C4 Vette for when I'm not working. (I had an '84 TA in 1985-87 that had a 305 V8 that was recalled by GM because of cracked intake manifolds... took a BIG loss on that one, but I still love F-Bodies and Vettes)

Does anyone know about a rev-limiter or speed limiter on the V6 3.8L engines? My Camaro runs pretty good now with just a K&N filter and it's got 111k miles. I just got a great deal on a 99 Firebird with T-Tops, 5-spd and the same V6 with only 69k miles. It runs good, but not breathing well enough and seems to trail off at 65-70mph? I know that a K&N filter will help, and maybe a new fuel filter, maybe clean the injectors, etc.... still wondering if it may have some kind of governor or speedlimiter I've read about lately? This car seems to have been really taken care of, not thrashed... well-maintained... good oil pressure.

I never could find a chip for this engine when I looked for one in the Camaro either.

That is the problem with the V6's... they are stoplight to stoplight racers. Balls to the wall acceleration to 45, then it's like the hamster died on the wheel after that. I took my car up to 125 on the way to fresno on I-5 last summer... and that was as fast as it goes. Rev limiter is at 5700RPM i believe. I've seen it go to 6, but that's cuz I was rolling downhill with it pegged in first.

Thanks for the feedback Stingray.

I know... but this Firebird is pretty slow. Not even stoplight to stoplight!I think I need to find something like a Hypertech Power Programmer, or get it diagnosed by someone who has one. I think the problem is in the PCM... Hypertech website looks like they'll only work on a 2000-03 3.8L V6's and they don't have anything yet for my 97 Camaro 3.8L.
