Thinking about a new car
Guys i'm thinking about selling my 94 Civic coupe Esi (VTEC), and buying myself an almost new (1999) Alfa Romeo Spider. What do you guys think?
For the ones interested or who know somebody who is interested, i'm asking 275.000 BEF or 6820 EURO for it. It's been my baby for some years now, so don't ask if it's maintained well

The Spider is a nice car - but it's NOT a HONDA
- only joking!

Problem is that i don't like the design of the newer civics and mine is getting old.
And an NSX is too expensive ![]() They stopped with the ITR, and the Lude so. ... And i like the design of the GTV / Spider. And it's a little more exclusive than my Honda. |

Personally I wouldnīt buy an italian car (except a Ferrari or something like that, of course) because they arenīt that reliable and Iīve heard that they get rusty very fast. Do you want to buy the V6 version then? If not I would try to find an used ITR or 2.2i Prelude! |

I've found a 1998 ITR with a few km on it, but it's hell expensive, they want 19,800 euro for it. And i know one lude of 1997 with only 17.000 km for the price of 13,500 euro (but it's only a 2.0l).

If i would stick to Honda, i would probably search for a Honda Accord Coupé, or better and nicer a last version Legend Coupé, damn these cars are nice, but very rare also

I hate every car without a Honda badge :finger: J/K So you think your favorite gen Civic is getting old? So what to do when your favorite gen is a 4th gen. I'm in the same (worse) boat.Alfa's are great cars as well, I don't know about the rust issue and stuff, but I think today's cars are all very good, well not all, most. But I don't drive a Alfa so I don't know for sure ![]() Good luck with whatever you get. |

I dunno about over there but here Alfas have a bit of a bad name, they really are only a Fiat who themselves are not a great car manufacturer. Maybe it's just the dealers that are the problems here but I nothing but people complaining about Alfas in Ireland. In saying that, the Spider is a nice looking car

The Alfa may "look" good, but i think you will have more problems with an '99 Alfa than with an '94 Honda.No.I'm sure...

I like the design of the Italian cars, but I'm not to sure about their quality. I know you used to be very calm when you started with a Italien car and after a few km you could push the pedal to the metal. If you didn't start calm you could blow your engine because of weak aluminum. But I think most off these problems are solved...

I would be carefull with an alfa, even the new alfa 156 have problems with their clutch, so I don't think they're really reliable. I personally don't like spider, but like the 156 and 166, beautifull cars!
With the new honda's you're right, I like your 94 coupe more than the newer versions. Don't think your honda is old... it can handle much more time/kilometers. probably you'll have less troubles as with a 99 alfa. And don't forget what the alfa is worth when you want to sell it over a few years, I think the price drops hard!
