NSW HSC results are out...

... and my Modern History class ended up over 4% above the state average!!!!!!!!

Woohoo

2 in the top band (band 6 - 90% and above), 7 in band 5, 3 in band 4 and 4 in band 3. Lowest HSC exam

mark was 61%, lowest HSC mark was 62%. Top mark was 92% for both my top kids.

Yes I am pretty damn pleased with myself and my students

Sorry - just thought I'd share

but can i ask you a question? because im going to do my HSC in 2002 and im really scared! really really scared! because i watch the news and there was this girl, she scored like mostly 77/100 in most of her marks, but as a total UAI, she got 54% whats wrong there? how come she got 54% did she get scaled down? if it is, is that how badly u get scaled down too??

hey there SB -don't sweat it. I sincerely doubt that was the case as even though the current HSC sucks, it is more than fair - the cynical amongst us would say that it's the BoS covering for its screwups

My top kids were in the 80s and 90s and were getting UAIs of 90-99.2

According to the BoS, nothing is scaled or applied to a bell curve. You get what you deserve.

It might depend on what courses she did and whether she achieved her minimum 10 units - without knowing the details I cant comment why - if it happened the way it was reported.

It's not too bad - the English courses suck (to teach as well as to study), but you can still do well in them. I have a SOC and STD English course going through the HSC next year - I'm not breaking out in a sweat yet

Cheers
