Eclipse vs. 3000GT
Which would you guys suggest to a new racer? A 1997 Eclipse GSX or a 1994 3000GT? Please post with reasons.

GSX
1) Costs less 2) Less insurance rates 3) Responds better to mods 4) Probably less miles 5) As a new racer, an eclipse is a great starter car. A 3000gt is a harder car to start with, especially a vr4.

Have you seen the interior on 3000GT's? it's the same in 99 as it was in 91.. plasticy
 go with eclipse, there's a bigger community, and weighs a lot less. you also can probably achieve more power in an eclipse.

yeah, id say that if money isnt a BIG deal, go with the vr4, just because theres more potential from a TT V6 than a T I4. plus, how cool is active aero and allwheel steering (very cool to brag about IMO)

There was a thread on another forum about how much hp they've heard of in a 3000GT... some say 800, some said there was 900, but no 1000 there. the "potential" of an eclipse is no less than those numbers, ask John Shepherd and his 850awhp talon. I doubt a "new racer" would even come close to the limits of a 4G63, so no.. it's not going to be any faster.

i really like the VR4, but the Eclipse GSX is my car and i have good reasons for it too

yeah the fastest dsm may be in the 7's but wuts the chances hes going to have taht kind of money? and i doubt it was street legal... the vr4 is heavy but has more power... it is a v6 tt 4wd while the gsx is single turbo 4wd... and i doubt that the fastest vr4 is only in the 11's... it is only because you probably dont know as much about the vr4 as you do the eclipses.. why dont u go into the 3000gt section and ask them what the fastest time is

DO NOT FIGHT.
 So the Eclipse is the way to go, or at least that is what I gathered. This is for a new racer. A seasoned racer could, probably, make the 3000GT faster. Just what I've gathered.
