Mint F1(more info)
OK the full story is. I bought the bike a 1987 Hurricane 600, from my uncle a few months ago. He had it for 12 years and put 4000 miles on it. It has 20k total and the only flaw is a couple of cracks in the plastic around the radiator and a small dent in the tank(hidden by a bra). It is White with the red stripes down the sides. I know it's not rare but you don't see them everyday, and no one I know has one like it. Sitting beside a new bike people don't believe mine is 16 years old. My first instinct is to modify the hell out of it, but I really want to keep it original. For the most part anyway. It has a Kerker slip on but I plan to install a full exhaust. Vance&Hines I believe but I have alot of research to do still. To complement the pipes will be rejetted carbs and a K&N filter. My buddy owns a chrome shop so I plan to purchase another set of wheels to chrome and keep my factory wheels red. What options do I have as far as using a used set of wheels off a newer CBR? If they will not fit what will? I look foreward to the lighter weight of a more advanced wheel as well. Stock it is fitted with 110/80-17 front and 130/80-17 rubber. How much wider/lower profile can I go, esepically the rear. I started riding at the age of 12 with a YZ80, since then I have owned a pair of YZ125s and a pair of Banshees and they were all modified. Motocross is great but my back and knees and sholders and wrists and neck ect.. are starting to pay the price so here I am. I know this bike won't touch a new 600 but it's different and I like it. Without a doubt more power is necessary in the future but until I get used to ashpault I'm happy. I'm thinking a new CBR 600 with the same mods in a year or so. I drive a 500hp Mustang(check it out in the gallery) which will soon make 650hp via a 347 w/boost, so no matter how fast it is you will eventually get outrun or just bored and want it faster. Maybe I shouldn't mess around and go for the GSXR. Decisions, decisions.
