Angry DTRL Problem 2000 silverado

i have a 2000 silverado and one day my girlfriend noticed that one of the dtrls was out so a few days later i went and bought new lights i by that time both of them were out when i pulled them out i noticed that the socket was all chared and burnt. so i went to the other side and it was the same. well never seen that before. so i went ahead and replaced em and they did not work so now its been a couple more days i checked the fuse and stuff and it was all fine
is this common what could it be
its proly a short somewhere i just havnt had the time to go into depth about it
thanks

Re: DTRL Problem 2000 silverado

Have seen some problems with the DRL sockets burning..it was necessary to replace the sockets...there was also a GM tech bulletin on a new part number bulb, but I cannot locate the number.

Re: DTRL Problem 2000 silverado

Generaly the problem is GMC put 12 volt bulbs in those should be 14 volt bulbs, there is a service bulliten out on that I also have a 2000 silerado and talked to the chev service manager about it and replaced with 14 volt it has something to do with the fact that the altmeter put out 14 volts
