S-10 Oil Pressure

What is the oil pressure of a 1985 S-10 Durango 2.6 supposed to be? Mine seems to stay around 80 unless I turn on the Defroster or A/C, then drops to 40.

TIA!

I have a 1986 2.8 with a high volume oil pump and when it is cold it is about 80 but when it is warm it drops to 40 so i would say that you are ok.

Thanks...but I'm running at 80 even when it's warm. The only way to get back to 40 is to turn on the defroster or A/C...I'm thinking a bad oil pump, but want to be sure.

Re: S-10 Oil Pressure

Sounds to me that you have a ground wire loose in your dash. Turning on the defrost won't affect oil pressure. Your guage is reading wrong when you switch something else on. If you want to check the guage out, put a manual oil pressure guage on it. Yours is electric.

While the truck is idling it will runn at 80 and as the engine sppeds up (or a increase the RPMs by turning on the defroster), the pressure drops. But even though it drops, it does jump around allot. I'll check the wiring, but I want to make sure I don't have a pump going bad.

Re: S-10 Oil Pressure

How old is your engine? have you thought about the
oil pressure relief valve, it could be stuck.
