96 Camry exhaust has gone bad
I just had my Camry in for an oil change at the dealer and they told me I had a leaking exhaust, so I had a local muffler shop look at it and they found that the the "flex pipe" had gone bad.
The shop quoted me around $740 for the entire front pipe, but said that I could also have the "flex pipe" section replaced, which would cost only $200. I want to believe them and go with the temporary fix, but I am afraid that I still might have to replace to entire pipe sometime down the road. The shop said the pipe should last to about 120k (I have 70k on the car currently). Will it hold until then? I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks! Hank |

Re: 96 Camry exhaust has gone bad
here's what i did. replace your rear motor mount and you will prob. need the front one too.and you will prob. notice that the dog bone mount is in bad shape too. then remove the braided covering at the flex area of the exh. pipe. and have the crack welded or brazed. even locate a used one from the bone yard.
