Hydraulic Lifters ??

Is it common on 3000gt (gto) to make a tapping noise from the engine ? What would be the easiest way to get rid of the noise...Thanks

extreamly common problem, most people chose to live with it.

1st chack to make sure your oil is full, topping it off stopped my friends engine from ticking.
if its full, rev the engin up and hold it for about 2-3 sec at 4000 rpm that should stop it temporarily
some people run a little ATF in their oil to stop it(which is considered dangerous by others)
or buy the "big bore" lifters and replace yours.

They are generally around 25 each, and you need 24 of them. Check your local dealer, they may be cheeper. If not www.3sxperformance.com and sometimes there is a group buy on www.3si.org.

To replace them the proper way you have to disasemble the heads, so add some gaskets to that. However you can do it with a crow bar, just dont slip. Look around on 3si. This is a very common problem.
