Strange sound on my 92 325i

Hello all..Check this out...Everyday when i get in my car (usually first drive of the day) and i drive away, as soon as i make my first turn, right or left I get this brief sound almost like a grind or vibration somewhere in the front. But it doesnt do it again until my next cold start up and go.
Any help will be appreciated.

Check the power steering fluid. Maybe it is low from a leak.

Re: Strange sound on my 92 325i

fluid is fine. Ive discovered that it does this everytime i leave from a parked position. During my initial drive away and slight turn it gives a quick hum like sound that resonates to the steering wheel. Could the wheel bearings cause this ?

It probably is not related to the wheel bearings, but if it is being caused by something in the wheel it will probably change if you press the brake. Try pressing on the brake when it is humming and see if it stops.

I suspect the root cause is somewhere in the rack and pinion. It may be a sign of normal wear. I'm not familar with BMW's (I might get one, thats why i'm in this forum) Other old cars I have driven will sometimes take a little longer for the PS to start working. While backing out of my parking spot in the morning a strong arm is needed for a moment before the PS kicks in.
