Need engine information '94 Mercury Sable

I blew head on 3.8 '94 Sable. Recall expired. I understand Ford made changes in 3.8 in '96 then another in '97. I want to get a junkyard engine to put in instead of paying a grand to fix old. My question is...What 3.8 engine with the fixes will bolt right in without modifications?

Will a 3.0L V6 bolt up?

there were no 3.8's in Tauri after 1995. You could use a Windstar 3.8, but it definitely would require modifications to go in (returnless fuel system, OBD2, etc) and it would probably tear your poor AXODE up in a few months.

A 3.0 bolts right in, you just need the mounts and computer from a 3.0L OBD1 taurus/sable. It will feel alot slower though.
