WRX max potential

HI everyone

I was wondering what the max potential to date is for the WRX impreza. Whats the most hp someone has gotten out of the WRX? Which would be the better choice considering I care more about performance then looks between the new impreza with the square headlights and the previous one with the round headlights. Actually i kinda like the round headlight look much more then the new one. Any advice on best tuners aswell? thanx in advance

Re: WRX max potential

Your max depends on whether or not you want to work on internals. You can hold 300awhp for a while on the stock internals/stock tranny. 350awhp seems to be a break point for internals/tranny from what I've seen. Technically, depending on how much internal/block/tranny work you do, the sky's the limit. As of right now, there's only one WRX (that I know of) that's in the 9 second range. I suspect that it's around 600hp.

There are a shitload of good tuners out there, but it all depends on your final HP goal. Try www.vishnutuning.com to get a head start.

The bugeye impreza ('02/'03) and the square-eye impreza ('04) have the same engine and drivetrain (except the sti of course). So either will make the same power given the same modifications. Pick the one you like most.

The max potential of the wrx depends entirely on how deep your pocket is. there are some with over 400awhp. Those are the guys with the money to blow. Easy Street motorpsorts (ESX) has a package good for 740hp... but it costs $28k. (btw - that's good for 9's in the quarter). Like the above poster said, anything over 350awhp means new internals, probably a closed deck block, a new turbo, a new transmission... it'll add up...

Thanx a lot guys for the help
I am not looking at drag racing the car but more for top seed runs and tracking the car. I just went on the ESX site and they claim to have the world record for fastest WRX. 9.60@144mph is pretty impressive. I love the sequential shifter they use. I am surprised they kept the passenger seat on the car. I would have taken it out, made the car as light as possible. $28k for this is not bad actually. JUN requires $60k-70k for their setups. Can that WRX setup fit in a bug eye WRX? is thebug eye a lighter car then the sti square lights?
