uh, the only way to advance the timing on the qr25 is to go in to the dealership and have them do it for you, and there is no throttle cable to shorten on the qr25.

Re: First Upgrade!!!!

Well first of all, you don't have a qr25 so what I said doesn't apply to you. I'm assuming you have a ga16, I don't know how to advance the timing on that engine so I don't know, but it's probably similar to the sr20 if you have a distributor. I won't give you detailed instructions though because it'll be different and you might advance it too far.
timing advanced too far + gas with too low of an octane = detonation and a screwed motor before too long

Re: First Upgrade!!!!

I wouldn't worry too much about it. first of all if it is an electronic ignition. which it probably is since it's brand new. (what kind of car are you talking about anyway) You can't advance. Chances are neither can the dealer. Most dealers don't have OBDII programmers which is what you need, because it wouldn't be cost effective to buy them.
I really wouldn't worry about it. If you advance timing you gain low end power, and loose just as much in the top end. If you advance it and run low octane, shoot nitrous or use forced induction you'll end up with a rod knock. (bad)

Totally agree....advancing would give you low-end power. The QR25DE already has plenty of low end. You need high-end power. Get some NISMO or JWT Cams to help out with that...but I would just do intake, header, exhaust, pulley, balance shaft removal...and possibly cams.
