Power Steering Installation

My 91 Civic STD does not have power steering. Is it possible to buy the parts and install this myself? Does anyone have an idea what I would need besides the power steering pump and belt?

Thanks,

Re: Power Steering Installation

Yes its possible to make it p/s - is it worth it? IMO no.

You will need a p/s rack, tie rods, pump, hoses, belt, fluid, alignment.

Get yourself a manual from www.helminc.com to assit you during the process & many other questions you many have.

Re: Power Steering Installation

It was a question of "if" it could be done. Some of you guys out there have some serious attitude issues. I will not even get into the whole "I drove a 1965 mustang with a 289 with NO POWER STEERING". Who gives a DAMN. That was completely off topic. If you want to compare "dicks" as it were, I have a 69 Chevelle SS with a 502 in the garage right now that does not have power steering.....SO WHAT!!!!!!

It can be done and shouldn't be too difficult of a job. Get yourself a helms manual(one of the best investments I've made). Just locate what parts you need like was mentioned above and then go to town. Good Luck with the project.

Re: Power Steering Installation

I have PS in my SiR - most JDM Civics and CRXs came with it. It is very nice for parking and low speeds while still giving you a lot of feedback through the steering wheel at speed or in motorkhanas.

Sume fucktards will tell you it adversly affects handling - but they are talking out of their arses and know nothing

Re: Re: Power Steering Installation

Manual steering is more direct
p/s varies with engine speed(pump RPM). Is it enough to notice? Not really.
