hey can any one help me??????????
i need to know what can i do to make my camaro (89 iroc z28 350 5.7 tuned port injected) go faster????????? i need speed!!!!!!!!!!!!! is thare any thing cheep i can do to make it go faster?????? |

performance chip, headers, performance cat back, larger enjectors, larger throtle body, underdrive pullyes, rear end gears, shift kit(if automatic), higher flowing intake runners, you can get a lot of bolt on power, but defenatly get a chip, perferably a custom burned one so you can get all your mods taken into acount.

Hey bro. I have a 1990 IROC-Z 350. I had a chip it helped. Headers would be killer, only prob is they are super labor intensive. I had many many exhaust shop tell me they didnt even want to do it. Very tight spot and very difficult to have installed. Dollar for dollar. NOS. I have been running a plate wet system for a few weeks now. Its a completely different car now. Sick power. If you are stock, I would start like this:
1. Cat back exhaust (including new high flow Y pipe) you should have dual cats 2. NOS Plate System (100-150 adjustable) 3. Jet Chip (only if you dont use NOS) |

so far everyone is on track. better exhaust from the engine back. look into edelbrock TES headers into a random technology flow through cat, into your choice of free flowing exhaust, the sexiest ive seen is from GMMG they make a chambered cat back system using original replacement, 1969 mufflers. if you can call them that. that will fit under the car, other than that, flowmaster, borla, dynomax, all good choices. that alone can free up a good 30hp, the TPI responds very well to mods, you can get away with alot on that MAF system without a chip, but once to get to a certain point, you will have to reprogram the computer variables. the airfoil is worth around 10hp, also stepping up to a bigger throttle body, say a 58mm unit. flows around 1000cfm vs your stock one at around 680cfm. the stock heads are less than optimal. i always have, and pretty much always will reccomend the vortec heads with the soggin dicky TPI base plate for a person on a budget. the unmodded heads and baseplate are worth around 45-50hp, port and polish the heads, put in oversized valves (2.02 and 1.60) and youre probly lookin at another 20-30hp. also the accel superram intake, larger plenium and shorter runners, extends the rpm powerband into the 6500rpm relm, and is worth around 58hp. and costs about 700 bucks for the runners and plennium, then you transfer all the stock gear (fuel rails, injectors, throttle body, etc.) if you have more money, chevy fast burn heads. which are aluminum are worth another 30hp over the vortecs. underdrive pullies, another 10hp. and also, dont forget the drivetrain. i am taking a shot in the dark that you have an auto slushbox. build it up with a corvette 1st-2nd servo and a shift kit. put in a stonger rear (torsen *cough cough* torsen) and deeper gears. say 3.27 or 3.42 to make it livable on the street, or go for it with 3.73 or even 4.10's but i wouldnt keep it my daily driver with gears like that. step up the rear suspension with better lower control arms and a stronger traction bar. power is nothing without bite, thats definately something to keep in mind. as far as cams, i reccomend the compcams Xtream energy line. they sell kits for stock hydrolic roller replacements that are computer friendly. and make massive power. also Dcatkin is right on track as far as TPIS, they are the name in TPI performance, its all they do. so it would be worth looking into. oh but i doubt that you have the dual cat option, if you do, im sorry its only worth around 10hp, and the replacement parts are a biznatch on the wallet. i would replace them with a single high flowing unit. but thats just me. also, the biggest performance, and what i am looking to do to my 89 IROC, is to swap from a maf system to a speed density system. elliminates the cork in the induction, otherwise known as a maf sensor, and allows much more tuning control, if you have the software and a laptop, you can program all your own variables, and account for ANY modification. suddenly possiblities are endless as far as nitro or a supercharger, i wouldnt reccomend them on a stock engine, but i always play it safe. the engine will probly take it no prob, but i always reccomend building the engine for the task if you plan on running that kind of combo. just think of your engine as an air pump, whatever you can do to make air go in and come out easier, will make more power.

HELLLLLLL YES ive been waiting for that question lol, finally something i have real applicable knowledge for SAVY!!!!!!!!!!! but hey, ill bite i got that 89 RS with the TBI 305, what can i do to get power from it, and keep in mind, i have to pass the sniffer test

Ok, lets see a TBI wanting to go hella fast but pass the "sniffer" test. That's more like a slider. But simple still, if it says not for emissions vehicles, don't buy it...LOL Vortec heads, should have them already, get them port and polished, get a edelbrock performer (not rpm due do egr) intake. A tbi spacer, holley 670 TBI system, and enjector spacers. Underdrived pulleys, electic water pump. You can get the matching cam for the intake also from edelbrock. Edelbrock TES headers, high flow cat back, and a pacesetter catback system. You could also go as far as getting a set of egr headers an x pipe dual cats, and some good mufflers. 3.73 gears would probably be the best bet. A custom burned chip, I say that a lot don't I? Pretty much do the same thing I did, but use legal parts and don't take out the emisions shit. You won't have as much as me, but I'm in flordia and can get away with it.

Hey, there good heads. I've got the torquer 305 heads, but I think I'm gonna go ahead and have my vortecs flowed and get a performer rpm vortec intake.
