Buying a used Lancer
Hi everyone
Sorry not my usual forum but I need to ask a question. I tried scanning the archives but nothing readily stood out. I want to buy a used lancer as a second car for my wife. Main requirements are that it is an auto, 4 door and costs between $AUS5000 - $AUS8000. I'm not after an EVO or tricked up model, I'd rather get a stock one and do the mods myself. Are there any glaring things I need to look for (besides the usual of course). Some of my concerns are the frequency of replacing timing chains, auto tranny lifetime and any other things to watch for. I've heard as a whole the stock cars are pretty tough and reliable but I wanted to know from you guys if you have any advice. I live in Victoria Australia but if anyone from overseas has any comments I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks! Andrew |

Re: Buying a used Lancer
i'm a fan of the evo, but not the economy shitbox that was the pre-2004 lancer.
either a) get a civic or something, which honestly is better, if not overused. b)get the new ralliart lancer for 16K USD, much better than the older one, and MUCH better looking. honestly, who doesn't think that removing that Fencing they called a grill was a good idea?
