88 Front End Went KLUNK Makes Noise Driving, NOW WHAT?

MYwife backed the 88 silverado up in 4wd on the blacktop and turned sharp to make the swing. It made one very loud metallic Klack when the wheels were turned full, (Bare blacktop). I had her take it out of 4wd but it still makes a light thumping sound when going down the road. What do you think she likely busted? It didn't sound like it came from inside the pumpkin as it wasn't muffled enough. Could it be a univesal joint in there under the boot? Damned wimmin should stick to minivans and automatics.................

Re:

Sounds to me like a universal joint or tie rods are broken. I would have your mechanic check it out soon before more damag is caused and more money has to be spent.

Thanks But I Found It

After getting some of the 18" of snow knocked out of the drive I got to looking under the truck. She managed to destroy the cv joint by pulling it out of the hub. At least now I can pull the axle at the flange and drive it in 2wd till I can get it in. LIKE I SAID WIMMIN SHOULD STICK TO AUTOMATICS AND MINIVANS ( BUT YOULL NEVER SEE ONE IN MY YARD}
