1992 Stanza Transmission Problem
I have a 92 Stanza and the wife was driving it the other day and all of a sudden....with no warning the vehicle would not move. Up to this point the vehicle moved and ran fine, (no slippage, noises, grinds, etc). It just stopped moving with no warning. OK, sounds like a transmission problem. I checked, linkage is OK....fluid is OK. I did a bit of research and I find that this transmission is computer controlled. I know I have to take it somewhere to be diagnosed, but I am curious if the problem could be perhaps not in the transmission per say, but in the computer thing that runs it. If so perhaps I could save mucho dollars on a rebuilt trans. Just wondering if other members had this problem. Thanx

Re: 1992 Stanza Transmission Problem
SOunds like the filter maybe clogged. Do a transmission service. The way an automatic transmission works, what you described could not be a bad tansmission but possible a clogged passage for the fluid.
Try smelling the tranny fluid from the dip stick. It should smell like vaseline, if it smells charred then good bye tranny |

Oh btw the computer controlled device only controls shifting. When it needs to shift based on driving conditions, rpm and so forth.
