Anybody?

Okay, so I start work yesterday on my car that I haven't even had for a week yet. And today I take out the seats, and take a good look at the carpet... Nasty-ass moldy, grimy... the most disgusting thing I've seen or touched in years. And the seats weren't far behind. I was already planning on tearing out and replacing the carpet, but now I have to do the seats too, I just expected to put covers on them. But whatever, it runs and it was cheap...

But I have a few questions about interiors. Could I just spray-paint all the plastic work and it would last and look fine? also, does anybody have any 240 seats or racing seats for sale? Or should I just junkyard it?

Re: Anybody?

My friend has a nissan hardbody, he painted the plastic parts and they look good. It has been six months now and it still looks fresh. Just make sure you use a good quility paint and lots of clear coat.

Re: Anybody?

Ok, good advice, that's what I was thinking but I've only painted houses and exteriors of cars, I don't know wether to use spraypaint or actual canned paint. Or if I should take out the pieces and paint them or somehow do it while they're in.
Because like I said, I'm takin out the seats and carpet, so a drip is no biggun.

Re: Anybody?

Not even armoral can cure this horrible mess. Tried it.

And I was a strong believer in those commercials... I feel let down.

Re: Anybody?

Try to take the pieces out so you don't get splater every where. Okay, put it this way me and my bro with the truck rattle canned his valve cover a month or so ago.
We used really good paint and even better clear coat. It is still looking shiny and good. Maybe take out the parts and use really fine steal wool to clean them up and then spray them.

Re: Anybody?

Sounds like a plan. But what about some parts like in the rear of the car that can't be taken out?

if you can find them...get r32 or r33 seats...otherwise get some aftermarket ones...

The december 2003 issue of SCC had a whole article with 73 aftermarket different seats and a driver-fitment guide. Vis Racing makes an all carbon fibre seat...weighs only 13 pounds and lists for $399. Not a bad deal imo. Though you gotta have AC or your back will get soaked with sweat in the summer.

Re: Anybody?

You should strip the interior completely and set it up for race, but you sound like a streeter, put in some shag carpet!! no really sparco has some affordable seats that look pretty damn good also. And reverse the the order of parts, it would be more fun

I think That CF seat from VIS is only a shell you would have to make your own padding and upholstry (i geuss that would be kinda fun if your a DIY type of person) and then buy mounts.

or you could just go ghetto with the shell and one of those pads for football games...

Re: Anybody?

Yeah, there's a lot I want to do, but I think I'm doing it in the wrong order. I started takin the seats out to vacuum, and then I found out that the carpet was horribly dirty. And I also want to repaint the interior. So I currently have no seats and soon no carpet, and I'm going to have a friend help me paint it. So It ain't workin too well... Oh well, when it's all over it will be good times.
